Applying for a Place
STARTING SCHOOL FOR THE FIRST TIME – KEY DATES
If your child was born between 1st September 2018 and 31st August 2019 then they should start primary school in September 2023.
Applications for places in what is known as Reception are handled by Enfield Borough Council, not by the school.
The council started accepting on-time applications for primary school Reception places on 1st November 2022.
On 15th January 2023 it will stop accepting on-time applications.
On 17th April 2023 parents and carers who applied for a place by 15th January 2023 will be given a school place.
LATE APPLICATIONS
If you are applying after 15th January then this is known as a late application.
The council will only consider late applications after it has handed out places to on-time applicants on 17th April 2023.
You can apply online as a late application up until 16th August 2023. After 16th August, you will have to complete a paper in-year application which will be available to download from www.enfield.gov.uk/admissions.
HOW DO I FIND OUT MORE AND APPLY?
You can find out more information about applying for a place by clicking the link to Enfield Borough Council’s primary school admissions page HERE.
This page features a link to two really useful documents called Applying for a Primary School in Enfield Information for Parents and Applying for a Place in Reception Class.
Among other subjects, these documents feature information about appeals, waiting lists and deferring a place, as well as addressing common misconceptions.
After you have read the information available on this page and in these two documents, you can apply online by clicking HERE.
We can help you with the application if you like. To get help from our support staff, click HERE.
HOW MANY SCHOOLS DO I APPLY FOR?
You can list up to six schools on your application form.
This will give you the best chance of being offered a school your child would like to go to.
The schools can be in Enfield or elsewhere.
Make sure you list the schools in your order of preference (the favourite school first, followed by the second choice and so on...).
DO I NEED TO APPLY FOR A PLACE IF MY CHILD IS AT FLEECEFIELD'S NURSERY
Yes. If your child already attends a nursery you must still apply for a Reception place in the same way as other applicants.
There is not an automatic right of transfer from the nursery to the Reception class in the same school.
CAN MY CHILD MOVE TO FLEECEFIELD FROM ANOTHER SCHOOL?
Yes. If you would like your child to move to Fleecefield from another school that they are already attending, either during the school year or for the following September, then you should contact Enfield Borough Council.
All the information you need on how this works is HERE.
